| The
Blend is a five man riot of gorgeous noise driven by the thought provoking
lyrics of frontman and three-time national slam poet, Toussaint Morrison.
The Blend's ever widening fan base, nationwide network of street teams,
and consistency to rock the road on national tours is a testament to their
compelling sound. Creeping up on the Minneapolis music scene since their
days of high school in 2001, this band has finally arrived. Although held
to the title of "live band hip-hop" this group is by no means defined by
hip-hop. From sold out venues comprised of emcees and rap addicts in Chicago,
IL, to capacity concerts in Sioux Falls, SD filled with Arctic Cat Jackets
and cowboy hats, The Blend manages to revolutionize the title of "hip-hop"
standing deeply rooted in shades of rock, jazz, and classical music. Hailing
from Minneapolis and having opened for national touring acts such as Saliva,
Story of the Year, The Big Wu, P.O.S., Brother Ali, and Heiruspecs this
group is a must see.
Beginning
as a bass, drums, and two emcees taking first in a city-wide talent contest,
summer of 2001, The Blend has evolved to a solid five piece performing
numerous gigs throughout the Minneapolis underground scene. Permeating
the Midwest college circuit and touring Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, New
York, S. & N. Dakota and Minnesota, the group has attracted a following
and developed a reputation in and outside of the hip-hop community. The
bands LP release, After What Came Before is their sophomore album and received
press & photograph by USA Today. Their latest release of the EP, Last
Piece of a Broken Cause, has attended the top 200 of the CMJ charts and
is in rotation on hundreds of radio stations throughout the country. |
