the hell are Nick Hensley and Joe Carey? Nick Hensley (vocals, bad harmonica,
guitar, whistles, musical turrets, terrible jokes, f- bombs and movie quotes)
Nick Hensley is the former lead singer of the twin cities based band, the
district. (rip 1996 – 2002) he created LSFAM shorty after his band called
it quits. The band name, love songs for angry men, was originally going
to be the title of Hensley’s first solo album. However, after analyzing
the honesty and descriptive value of the name (over a bottle of John Daniels),
he realized that writing love songs for angry men was literally what he
wanted to do musically. Therefore, he decided to, not only use it as a
band name, but attempt to write a concept album and form a concept band
around its very definition. (all right ...concept acoustic duo... Calm
down mr. Technical! … >>>>> he incorporated his dark, demented sense of
humor and attempted to compose 30 painfully personal songs about booze,
women, and organized religion. To date, the majority of those songs have
been written, played live and some even recorded live at the narrows, O'Gara's
and Tiffanys. (a live double disc was just released this year and is already
on its third pressing!) However, the goal is still to complete all 30 songs
and release a studio double disc by next Xmas/Kwanza/Chanukah Chaka Kan/
holiday. Hence, he’s anxiously awaiting inspiration from something or someone
in a world where life is merely the downtime between project runway episodes.
Nick resides in Saint Paul, MN with his wife and boxer puppy, wrigley.
Joe
Carey (vocals, guitar, decent jokes, f- bombs and movie quotes >>> rocky
i – iv only) Joe Carey (love songs for angry men, loft, the porn thieves,
the careys, MN gold and gboa). Joe joined LSFAM in late 2003 and is the
other 1/2 of LSFAM. Joe Carey is an accomplished singer-songwriter guitarist
from Minnesota. He has been involved in the music business for over 15
years and has written, performed, and recorded with several musical acts.
Joe also does a fair share of work as a solo artist. In june of 2003, he
released his solo debut, Wondervibe, and is now writing songs for his next
album to be released sometime this decade. Joe currently resides in St.
Paul, MN with his wife and daughter. Joe enjoys the occasional jagermeister,
and can't stand the Eagles (though he must give them some credit since
he has not been signed and the Eagles have done pretty well for themselves).
Joe also believes that Steve Perry rules....and so do Hall and Oates (yes,
even the short dude with the curly hair and the porn mustache). To date,
the LSFAM have maintaned a full schedule, playing more than 250 shows a
year, averaging 4-5 nights a week. Nick and Joe have shared the stage with
great acts like: the gear daddies, the samples, the why store, gb Leighton
and Martin Zellar. Currently LSFAM is promoting their latest release, a
live double disc called, love songs for angry men disc 1 and 2. The double
disc is for sale at all their live shows, and is on its third pressing
