| Creating
a wide range of truly original music and maintaining a devoted fan base
are two big hurdles for any band. For the award-winning Kurt Jorgensen
Band (KJB), these hurdles are taken in stride. Formed in 2000, this hard-working
Minneapolis-based group continues to convert first-time audiences into
long-time fans.
It's
not rare for the band to play 6 nights a week-- they can be seen in several
incarnations besides the 7-member "full band" configuration. On summer
Sunday afternoons, as many as 10 musicians can be found crammed on the
stage at P.D. Pappy's in Stillwater for a family-friendly affair. Another
option, the 4-piece stripped down ensemble, referred to as the "acoustic"
band, plays Tuesday nights at Nye's in Minneapolis to a more hip urban
crowd. You can even catch a 2-man show, Kurt and Z, if you watch the schedule
carefully. Each type of show is a little different and highlights the band's
diverse array of talent. |
