| Being
kicked out of the Keys in August of 04 didn’t get these musicians down.
They just packed up their guitars and headed north for a change. Sick from
all the shellfish, they figured Minnesota would be a good place to purge
the system. Mark Allan, singer of the band ShakyJake, leads this acoustic
treat. Not only can he weave you a hat from palm leaves, but his musical
talents go unmatched. His ability to improvise, awesome harmonica skills,
great song writing, passionate vocals and acoustic guitar strumming make
Mark an exception to the usual bar room performer. Eric Kratochvil of the
band Rhino, who Still is fluent on the conch, often accompanies Mark with
guitar, vocals and mandolin at many Key West shows. Also showing up for
side duty is Kurt Nixon. An exceptional vocalist in his own right, not
to mention an extremely fluid guitar player. You may even see the amazing
Uncle Jessie from Lamont Cranston kickn’ some upright bass at the Key West
shows. Wurtzy from ShakyJake and Rhino fame sits in as well as Bill Wright
guitar hero from ShakyJake, and Brett Hanson from Gel and Grumpy Munchkin
- can also be seen on stage as a Key West Reject. Playing all your favorite
tunes from such artists as Jonny Cash, Tom Petty, Neil Diamond, Neil Young,
Foo Fighters, Lit, Buck Cherry (Yes acoustic Buck Cherry!) and many more
surprises, they have all the bases covered. The Rejects also play a wide
repertoire of originals from all of the revolving musician’s catalogs.
Not to mention the occasional free form Jazz odyssey! So come on out and
check out a show. Sing along and let the rum flow free.......Sail fast
and love slow. |
